STEM ENGINE
INNOVATION FOR STUDENTS
“Governor Martin O’Malley launched the Maryland Love Project … the effort is a collaboration between the state, the Maryland State Arts Council, the Baltimore Love Project, and the Digital Harbor Foundation’s STEM Engine program through which middle and high school students created the online portal.” – The Baltimore Sun
DHF’s STEM Engine program helps students with skill sets in the areas of web and mobile app development to gain work experience in technology while building real projects for clients. STEM Engine provides a link between students and the tech job market in a very real way. Students work under the guidance of full-time, professional project and technical managers; their earnings are banked into personal scholarship accounts. STEM Engine gives students a chance to get ahead of the pack and to begin building their portfolios now!
STEM Engine is seeking students with skills in web development, mobile app development, or design. Students seeking web development positions should have experience in HTML, CSS and Javascript. Experience with WordPress is a plus but not required. Students seeking mobile app development positions should have experience in Titanium Appcelerator or native mobile app development in Objective-C or Java. Students seeking design positions should have experience with Photoshop or Illustrator. If this sounds like you, complete our student application form.
STEM Engine is available for clients interested in having students develop a basic website or mobile app. Client projects can offer students the opportunity to further develop their skills and knowledge by providing an authentic learning and working experience. Client projects can also help students build their resumes and portfolios. Clients interface with a full time professional project manager and technical manager who help to ensure that the team of students delivers a functional product on time. If you are interested in investing in the future of our students and helping to enhance their skills through the development of your project, complete our estimate request form.
STEM CORE
INNOVATION FOR CURRICULUM

Focused on STEM education for grades 8-12, the program is inquiry-driven and fueled by hands-on activities that link the development of technical skills to growth across the curriculum in language arts and communication, mathematics, and design thinking. Current course offerings include Web Design, Mobile App Development, and 3D/Digital Manufacturing. Upcoming courses may include Cyber Security and modules built around Robotic Design. STEM Core — created in partnership between Battelle, Digital Harbor Foundation, and ASU — aims to be the blended learning curricular platform for STEM and CTE education.
