Last week we were very excited to receive a package we had been awaiting for weeks:  our MakerBot Replicator 2. That afternoon, students from Digital Harbor High School came down to the office and got to work running the setup and configuration procedure, and got great results. They successfully printed a number of objects, and got to work searching for awesome stuff to print on Thingiverse and thinking about things they’d like to design and print themselves.

We love to get kids involved in the whole process: design, troubleshooting, prototyping, iterating, setup, etc. Soon we’ll have the kids building 3D printers themselves, as well as printing custom designs of their own creation. It’s lovely to see them diving in, becoming fearless explorers, tinkerers, techies, and makers.
