Yesterday afternoon we got to work for the first time with the grade school kids who will be part of the program at the DHF Tech Center.  This month is a transition, and we are working out of Federal Hill Preparatory while we get the Rec Center space ready to be the new Tech Center.

Our teachers for the after-school program are our EdTech Fellow Dr. Carberry and two talented teachers from Fed Hill Prep, Ms. Miklewski and Ms. Cekielski.  We’re very excited to be working with such a great group of teachers, kids, and parents.

On our first day, we took things pretty easy, had a yummy snack of bananas and granola bars, and did a ‘getting to know you’ activity.  Today we have the day off (don’t forget to vote!) and we’ll be back tomorrow, getting rolling with our maker curriculum, starting to build things with cardboard.

This is going to be a busy month for us, as we get keys for the space and get it cleaned up and ready for the after school programs at Federal Hill Prep and Digital Harbor High to move over starting December 3rd.  Special thanks goes out to Ms. Barnes and Mr. Eyer, the Principles at Federal Hill Prep and Digital Harbor High, for being such great partners on this project.
