Sir Ken Robinson famously noted that among all the arts, dance was least likely to be found in schools; and it goes without saying that outside of a dance academy, it would never make its way into the standard curriculum.

That’s part of the reason why we think it is so exciting that EdTech Link Fellow and Liberty Elementary school teacher Tamika Peters is forming an afterschool club to engage student in digital literacy and tech innovation — through dance.

Peters has long been a dancer and she believes that dance can be a means to teach essential tech skills to young students. We’re excited to see kids using video to learn and teach new dance steps and in using multimedia tools to create songs, videos, and Internet guides to dance.

If you have a background in dance or technology and would like to get involved as a volunteer, please get in touch. We’re always looking for community members to join us in expanding opportunities for our kids.
